It all started in 1930, during the midst of the Great Depression when Robert
S. Vidler, Sr. opened his 5 & 10 in the quaint village of East Aurora. Despite
the nay-sayers who took bets that the store wouldn't last a year, the store
survived and prospered! Today, this third generation family business still
maintains the character and charm it has always had and is now ten times
the size of the original store!</P>

<P>Vidler's 5 & 10 occupies four connected,
vintage 1890 buildings on two levels (that's over 15,000 square feet of
retail space!) on East Aurora's historic Main Street. Vidler's could quite
possibly be the largest 5 & 10 you'll ever visit! We offer an interesting
blend of merchandise that ranges from the nostalgic, hard-to-find items of
yesteryear to the newest items for today's recreational shopper!</P></TD>

Our sprawling building with its interesting nooks and crannies is easily
recognized by the red and white awning, ginger bread trim and hand painted
gold-leafed sign. Inside, you'll see that original wooden floors, big,
open counters (just like the ones Grandma browsed) and a store stocked full
of every kind of merchandise imaginable from marbles to microwave ware!
Become part of the scene as
you enjoy the atmosphere of an old five and ten.
Return to a simpler time when stores were unique, prices reasonable,
conversation friendly and customer service a pleasure.

<P>See the actual original section of the store, complete with hardwood
floors! See the original brass cash register Grandad started out with and
small plaques that Dad put on old store fixtures of local historic interest.
Here you'll find the heartbeat of the store with all those old time items
such as Buster Brown socks, hairnets, cotton hosiery and snuggies, shoelaces,
hairpins, curlers, bandanas, paper and plastic doilies, clip-on earrings
and change purses, cold cream, etc., etc., etc.! You'll find all sorts of
merchandise in bins, on counter tops and covering the walls. You have to
see it to believe it! Buy a bag of popcorn or ride Sandy the Mechanical
Horse - only 10 cents each!! For only a penny, try out our antique fortune

and holiday merchandise. We also have a silk flower, craft ribbon, and wicker basket room.
Also included as part of the Craft area is a wood room, with all sorts of unfinished wood
items for crafting needs plus finished dollhouse furniture and miniatures. Pressed and
regular cane is available along with a wonderful selection of stencils plus paints and
brushes to use with them! Your will also find an extensive selection of beads and jewelry

kitchen items to hard-to-find kitchen gadgets and novelties. We also have
lamp replacement parts and a great selection of glass chimneys and
shades. Bring in your lamp - we have the parts to help you fix it up!
Custom cut window shades are also available. We carry Wilton cake
decorating supplies, a large selection of cookie cutters,
